NEW in 2026: Trashman on the ZX Spectrum Next, with full gameplay and commentary on MiSTer FPGA. A brand new Spectrum Next game based on a classic, and I'm playing it with live commentary.
The original Trashman was written by Malcolm E. Evans and published by New Generation Software for the ZX Spectrum 48K in 1984, at an original price of £5.95. Here are some facts about it:
The new Spectrum Next version has programming by David Sonic Clarke, graphics by Simon Butler and music and sound by Paul Hesso, the team behind the Next game O. It is sold by Fusion Retro Books in standard, cassette and deluxe editions. The listing says you collect all the bins on each street, and it adds new hazards such as pot holes, wasps, ice and skateboarders alongside the original's bikes, dogs and visits to the pub.
The game is listed as compatible with ZX Spectrum Next, N-Go, X-Berry Pi and MiST(er). It supports 50Hz and 60Hz play, and 60Hz is recommended.
